We should have an idea of what is going on in the world. No?
What happens on the other side of the world will also affect us at some point. This is even truer today. I was astounded when I found that the supermarkets in Australia are full of exactly the same products that our own supermarkets are full of - even the same Italian Christmas delicacies. Same brands, same everything. There are a few (very few) Australian products usually with the label "Proudly Australian" displayed prominently on them!

What can we do? We, personally, believe that looking at a problem in all its vastness only results in a feeling of frustration. What do we do?
In my family, we look after our pennies, so the pounds look after themselves (these old sayings are full of wisdom because it has taken perhaps thousands of years of experience to produce them).

The above concerns economy. Concerning the mess our planet has become because of over consumption of commodities that we don't really need, we plant trees, we conserve water (I could write a book about the various methods I use to conserve water), we use our car only when necessary (granted we tour our section of our country regularly but I believe that we offset this by not using the car for everyday use. Walking has lots of advantages, advantages that are not limited to the pollution cars produce. Of course, it is frustrating when our government really does nothing to curb it's own pollution but, again, we are only in control of what we do ourselves. I believe there is probably a special section in hell for politicians

Some people think that it is useless for just one person to do something, especially if they think that they are missing out on something that other people are enjoying, but we each have a responsibility to do the best we can. If I were Prime Minister of a country I might be in a position to do more, as I'm not, and as worrying about these type of situations is useless without action, I do what I can.

What do other people on this forum do?

Paul is absolutely correct in that he doesn't watch the TV news - wish my husband did the same. The news is the only thing he watches on TV, but as he usually falls asleep, perhaps the damage is minimal
