The details might be different from one culture to another, but the pattern is similar. People always find "something" to gossip about and to brag about, those people who care about such things, will gossip or listen to the gossip.

Most cultures have some kind of social status thing going on and in each culture some people REALLY buy into it and others don't care.

You demonstrate yourself Lime that Thailand women have a range of attitudes, yours being different to those who brag about the money their farrang man has.

I'm single so far but I make it clear in all my introductions and conversations with Thai ladies that I am a taxi driver and a university student, I'm pretty sure that weeds out the ladies looking for a rich farrang. Ha Ha.
