Before the poor people had an advocate, their voices could never be heard because they lacked the means to assert their will. Please don't mistake that for the notion that they have no will of their own. The balance of power is shifting and the traditionally powerful aren't having any of it. As long as they view the poor people as inferior and not worthy to participate in the process, there will be problems. Once the genie is out of the bottle, you can't put him back in.
