This story reminds me of a Playstation game called Persona 2...

What is Persona 2 about?

Yesterday I was talking with a couple of Thais who had read this news and found it funny. We did not focus on superstitions, but on how an original message can we so warped as it passes on from one person to another. We were all reminded of a game called "Rumor Clinic" (perhaps it is known by others with another name), mostly used in Communications courses.

In this game, a NEUTRAL message (a FACT) is told to Person 1, who tells it to person 2, person 2 passes it to Person 3, and down the line. After many people have been told ( let us say 10 of them), we check the last message and it is so amazing how the original story has been changed in the process!

In processing the game, some of the usual insights or learning points that surface include:

-Some people cannot transfer a message accurately because of poor listening skills or poor memory or poor language skills
-Some like to embellish the story with juicy bits to make it more interesting
-Some inject their own beliefs which now color the FACT
-Some use the message for launching their own agenda
