I am not one to believe in ghosts but....

One night I was cycling back home and had to pass below a flyover. At a distance I noticed a figure standing motionless ahead in the dark narrow path. Her face was pale, had a slight bluish tinge and was void of any expression. I was cycling very quickly towards her and any sane person would move out of my path. But she just stood there with her head hung down.

My mind started to run wild and my heart beat real fast. A human would move out of the way but yet this pale figure was not bulging. I was in a dilemma and could not believe I was seeing a ghost! Not matter how firm my beliefs were in the non-existence of ghosts and spirits, they went out of the window that very moment.

Hoping fervently that the ghost would not look up and notice me, I slowed down as I cycled nearer towards the lone figure, my entire body trembling. As I came to about 2 metres in front of the ghost, I realised that she was holding a handphone in her hands and was busy text-messaging someone. That explains why she did not look up to see me and I then realised the source of the slight bluish tinge on her face which I had seen earlier. Phew!!

Whenever there is a conflict between our feelings, emotions and our rational thoughts, usually it is the former that will win. After all, we are emotional creatures driven by the whims and fancies of our hearts, isn't it?
