Getting to the subject about Thai surnames again: here we have two Thais undecided to whether two Thais with the same surname are related or not.

Personally, i do not believe so.

Certainly, it was decided way back that all Thais should have a different surname, however those were days before the computer and a certain ambiguity definitely erupted within different borders/provinces etc..

Thai name as a whole are very well prefixed/suffixed in accords to 'Pali' and the chances that surnames would clash were inevitable.
