And I've heard one about the 25th year of life, too. Hopefully a Thai can clarify this if I am way off. I turned 25 while I was in Thailand and was bragging to my students that it was my birthday. They all got quiet and said that I shouldn't brag about that too much out loud. The 25th year is supposed to be some example of how your life is going to be and if it goes well, your life will be golden... if your 25th year goes poorly (accidents, tragedy) then so will your life.

To remedy this, we all quickly knocked and then 'flicked' away the knock.

(epilogue: my 25th year was great!)
