what kind is used in thailand? obviously its not the roman/western style one...

and how to convert dates?

ist the 1. august here the first august in thailand? and year there = year here + 432?

No. You cannot correctly convert by adding any specific number of years. You will find that in the example given by David, it is 543 that is added. But in certain months of the year that formula won't work.

Conversion of dates? With my limited knowledge, I am unable to think of any formula either.

It may look a bit confusing at the beginning but that cannot be helped.
