In some shops in many countries, when you pay, the cashier will tell you, "You gave me one hundred dollars ( or whatever)" as she or he shows you your money. Like the suggestion above, you now reverse the practice by showing your money and saying, " I give you one hundred dollars."

I learned my lesson. I, myself, became a victim in a shop in Bkk last year where they claimed--all three sales ladies--against me, kon diow, that what I had given was a 500 baht note. I was 100 percent sure it was a 1000 baht note, since it was the last money in my wallet at that time. In my anger, I looked them in the eye and said slowly and emphatically in English ( they all spoke English): "Remember this. Everyday I will pray that you will always be poor".
