I had different experience, I paid with a 500 baht note, the cashier thought it was 1,000 baht. I insisted to return 500 baht to her, her face seemed to be tired and confused, she kept saying it was 1,000 baht, the next customer in line who saw me handing the money to her had to confirm I gave her 500 baht otherwise she wouldn't take 500 baht back.

10 years ago I paid by credit card, the store used old model of credit card machine, cashier had to key-in the number of amount paid. Mine was 3,xxx baht but the cashier added one more 0 and she didn't check it, just handed it to me to sign. I smiled while telling her to correct the amount, she apologized for her carelessness, before I left, she thanked me for not blaming her.

I understand that after long hours of working, they might be exhausted, easily making mistakes, distracted, some might stick to what they think which could be either right or wrong. Anyway, not everyone is honest, all good and bad people everywhere.
