Wasn't it just last year that they were parking up the cars and pick-ups because they could not afford to fill them up?

That's right, they were asked not to use their patrol cars unnecessarilly because of rising petrol prices.

When i was in Hua Hin last year I saw cops trying to flag down ppl, 3 on a bike etc, and they all just rode past but the cops didn't make any attempt to race after them.
I've never seen anyone resist in Bkk tho; maybe these cops are more hardcore.
