Is there any rules or norms that certain family follow in order to have a better health or influence their health? Like, environment, food they eat, religion, any herbs usually taken?
Hi Jocelyn_88,

As some of the other posts have noted, most Thais are fairly firm believers in modern medicine. But by realization in the failure of modern Western medical method that considers each separate illness to be disassociated from other kinds of illness, or illness in general. For this reason, a patient who is systemically ill may be involved in repeated office visits for a variety of symptoms and treatments. In the end, the body can become so exhausted from prolonged treatment that "illness in general" is never resolved. And clearing up symptoms does not necessarily lead to cessation of illness. Often, illness will continue, though manifesting different symptoms. Many illnesses exhibit the same or similar symptoms. This fact is why many patients can be misdiagnosed, then prescribed treatments that do not work. The attempt at diagnosis then begins again, with accompanying treatments that may or may not clear up the symptoms. The patient may become bankrupt by the weight of expenses involved, or die from battling prolonged illness (such like poisoning the cells with chemotherapy kills not just the cancer, but also the healthy cells, and often the patient).

So! over 10 years ago, By Dr. Sathit (ดร.สาทิส อินทรกำแหง),Thai doctor who has been cancer ’s study and life experience in traditional cultures command observation and respect. So we have new way to make a change in condition or disease as ชีวจิต (Chi-va jit), a mix of modern strengths and knowledge of both traditional western and complementary holistic wisdom of the past manner. This new treatment way has acceptable by Thai Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Health as “แพทย์ทางเลือก” (Alternative Medicine).

The foundation of Chi-va jit is about developing the ability to recreate our health, judgment and sensitivity. It was chosen as a philosophical way of understanding life as good health equates to vitality, wellness, peace, harmony, and balance. By understanding the applications of Ayurveda and Yin / Yang theory to all aspects of life, a person can achieve the balance so essential to a sense of wellbeing. We can learn to express ourselves, take care of our bodies, and nourish ourselves in a balanced way.

Instead of trying to identify the type of illness involved from symptoms the body manifests ,Chi-va jit views disease as a general condition of imbalance. It therefore assists the body to rebuild itself. In this way, the constitution/condition as a whole improves to the point that the immune system can successfully maintain health under almost any conditions of stress or exposure to disease micro-organisms. This is called natural immunity.

Chi-va jit is simply a lifestyle that goes way back to what our forefathers at, more traditional way of living and eating with nature and the environment we live in and living naturally in harmony with all things around us. Food is energy and helps us create and become who we are or as it has been said “You are what you eat”. This way heal physically by being aware how to create more balanced food and health practices that keep our strong, yet supple, in body and mind. Any repair we attempt to make in any part of ourselves, must also involve other parts. If we have a "physical problem" , there are also emotional, and energetic (spiritual) ways to solidify that healing.

The general concepts of health according to Chi-va jit are as follows:

1. Non-organic and animal protein foods should be avoided because of their lower nutrient content and the presence of pesticides .Unfortunately, a lot of modern staples that taste sweet are not nourishing and even toxic. Processed foods are the first thing to get rid of because of their inherent toxicity and lack of nourishment. In fact, processed sugar and refined carbohydrates are the preferred fuel for cancer cells.

2. Living in harmony with Nature is nourishing and produces health. Disease is the result of living out of harmony with nature including exercise and sleep routines are important.

3.Specifically, practice getting to bed on time and rising with the sun, which sets a harmonious schedule with the rhythm of the day, and exercises that increase body integration such as yoga and tai chi.

4.Finally, we need positive mind to look at the level of spiritual nourishment that we are receiving. We need to spend time each day in focused contemplation of life, our purpose, our contributions, what we are inspired by, and our relationship with Spirit. We need to take the time to practice feeling deep appreciation for simply existing.
