I think it is ok to put the symbol as it is on different colour shirt but I am not sure about altered the colour of the symbol into black&white since each colour on each part of the symbol all has specific meaning. I have tried looking around but I've never seen the symbol in B&W that's why I'm not sure about that.
As you can see from following site, there are polo shirt with the symbol, the shirts are available in several colour e.g. yellow, red, white, navy, light blue, green and orange but the symbol on the shirt is as it should be i.e. no alteration.
