There's nothing like a cold, dank, winter day in the UK. As mentioned previously, it's dark, humid and cold. It eats into the bones until all you can think of is the beach in Barbados. But then comes the spring, bright, clear, and refreshing and the whole country bursts out in a fervour that cannot be matched anywhere else.

And that makes the whole winter worthwhile!
