Quote[/b] (visionchaser45 @ Oct. 24 2004,18:59)]That's what farang who stay in the city run into. First, why would anyone want to eat food farang in Thailand? That stuff is junk food in America, and it seems even junkier in Thailand. Second, staying in Bangkok, Pattaya, and other tourist areas for farang will always be more expensive than staying in the countryside. Finally, it is much easier to get into trouble in the city (you name the malady).

Once I arrive at my family home north of Kalasin, I pay a total of $1,000 U.S. (40,000 baht) for an entire month. I eat like a king and feed the whole family too. I can go to the big market in Sahatsakhan on the 11th and 25th of every month and buy just about anything I want. I can get anything else in Kalasin or Khon Kaen. I can buy Beer Chang (3 - 1ltr bottles for 100 baht). The market for food is open every day and everything is fresh and inexpensive. But, hey, to each his own.
1.Never seen Beer Chang sold in 1ltr bottles, are you sure they are not 0.66 litre bottles ?

2. What comes to living costs , I get 23000thb from my government every month. If I have "sanuk-month", I have to use some of my savings, otherwise it is enough for me to live...

3. And yes, I want to eat farang food sometimes, even thai food is good. Unfortunately, good farang food is hard to find here in Lampang.

4. I was in Pty last week and it seemed that things cost three times what they cost here....
