I checked into sending money Western Union from United States to Thailand. The service charge came to approx 960 baht (24 US dollars). I was told if I send a US International Money order that the banks there will charge my Thailand friend high fees to deposit or cash it. But, will that fee be as much as 960 baht?

I have heard about sending a debit card connected to a seperate bank account but I am not ready to do anything like that.
