With a work permit you can get yearly visas. After you have been here for a few years then you can apply for a Resident Visa. Offhand these cost about 200,000 baht. They are not easy to get as they limit them to 100 people per nation. You can also only apply in December. Oh yes, you also need to earn more than 55,000 baht per month which is why I cannot apply for it. A set period of time after this you can then apply for a Thai id card and really become Thai!
