Today I see on the news a very sad thing Happened in Sydney Australia. Race riots involving a huge number of people of aboriginal heritage, attacking the predominantly Caucasian Police Force as well as destroying property. In this attack more than 40 police were injured, including knocking out a police man and breaking many bones of the police. This has upset me grossly, there has been many opinions why the aboriginal have been attacking the police over the last few years, To me it is not just one incidence of this happening, so there must be an underling problem. I can just give you my opinion, whether I'm correct is up to conjecture but to me, the aboriginal still basically hate the whites for settling in a county which was once there's 200 years ago and introducing a culture the aboriginal don't agree with, This maybe an over simplistic view but to me it is a base to a bigger problem. The huge racial tensions in Australia reflects badly on Australia's international image overseas, which could be part of the reason why Australia has had a disproportionate drop in tourists over the last few years considering we had so much publicity from the Olympic games.
Thailand has culturally 95% Buddhist almost every one specks Thai and there race of Thai Chines are so close they are almost identical. I see an area of tension in Thailand with the 5% of the population who do not have a Buddhist culture, but there has been a lot of talk by economic lobbyists and business groups to try and get the Thai Government to increase migration, if this was to happen could Thailand have race riots on it's hands, if to cultures don't get along. Just like in Australia.
Or could Thailand with it's present mix of cultures still have race riots in the future, could any one express there opinions on this matter. Maybe I'm to influence and alarmed by media reports in Australia and my fear is not really justified, but I'm getting very worried as the problem is getting worse.
