you can get vaccinated against hepatitis A, it's on all websites for visitors that it's highly recommended. it lasts one year, but if you get a booster, you'll be safe for at least 5 years.
same goes for typhoid fever.

the only time I got food poisoning in Thailand was NOT after eating at the street vendors', but in a fancy pizza restaurant! it was the most expensive and poshest meal of my time in Thailand. a Thai friend wanted to try pizza, never had it before, luckily he got away with it, but I ended up hospitalised for two days, with a view on Doi Suthep and magnificent rice soups three times a day.
so, this experience has influenced my opinion on what is safe and what is not.... I would be happy if I had the chance to cook for myself a few times a week, to me Thai food is delicious but not versatile enough, it's the variations of five or six really excellent flavours. if I have had enough of ricericerice and noodlesnoodlesnoodles, I still prefer a pizza to KFC or McDon crap.
