Just coming to the country as a tourist, is fine sorry Steve, but just to set the record straight although I am based in UK I am a director of a successful education agency in Bangkok. I read, write and speak Thai and spend most of my time with Thai people. I agree that some Thai people feel just as you said, but it doesnt make it right.

edit: Maybe my original comment was a little strong, I apologise Steve. It was a heavy day and I was half asleep when I read your post. I think I am touchy because I am old, fat and ugly so feel jealous of anyone refered to as "suay"
