I have tried a couple of these providers and yes, they are very cheap, but I have found the quality of the connection has most times been terrible from the UK. So, for anyone in the UK, I suggest you buy a 'mobile world' sim card from carphone warehouse and use your mobile phone to call Thailand at 15 pence a minute. It's also worth taking a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com run by Martin Lewis. There are some great suggestions about using mobile phones to phone abroad, and if you are on a monthly plan, I believe that it's also possible to phone 'for free' using your inclusive minutes with some networks.
I have been using a company called Easy Dial at least twice a week for more than the last year now (41 hours of call time!) and can thoroughly recommend them.

To call my Fiancee on her mobile costs me 6.9p a minute via an 0800 number and at the weekend when I get free calls it costs me 4.9p a minute via an 0208 number.

I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been unable to get a line through and if there has ever a bad line it is always due to Ubonwan's location or that it is raining.

Hope this is of use to someone.

David
