I have used the left luggage a few times and never had any problems with security. You go to counter, fill in a couple of forms and they open a side door and take the bags from you and place them in a locked room at the rear of the counter.

One thing to watch is that as Tjau Min says, there are a number of counters so be careful to remember where you leave it

Also there is one at international and one at domestic so be careful to choose the correct one so that if you are late getting back to airport you dont have to go to the other end of airport just to collect your bags.
