Ewww... I hate walking into public restrooms and seeing the wastepaper basket with all the little pieces of poopie paper. It's terribly unsanitary. Why don't Thais just flush the paper. The paper is septic safe. It's designed to break up in water.

As for the squatters, the following was taken from www.japan-guide.com/
