Friday, Aug 24, 2012
GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia - An ambulance driver has been fined RM3,000 (S$1,228) by a magistrate's court here on two counts of assaulting a businessman and damaging his car with a helmet.
Husain Md Noor, 33, was also ordered to pay RM2,000 in compensation to Khor Jin Leng, 39.
Husain pleaded guilty to both charges of voluntarily hurting Khor and causing damage to his car.
He admitted committing both offences with 10 others still at large at a road junction in Jalan Tanjung Bungah at 10.15am on Sunday.
It was reported that a commotion broke out between the two men after Husain's car rammed into Khor's from behind at the junction.
Khor tried to drive to a police station but was stopped on the way by some 10 men on motorcycles who smashed his car and beat him up with helmets.
Magistrate Noor Aini Yusoff fined Husain RM2,000 in default four months' jail for the assault and RM1,000 in default two months' jail for the mischief.
She then ordered Husain to pay Khor RM2,000 in default one month's jail as compensation under Section 426 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
