Free ride for elderly during Songkran - Thailand
The elderly aged 60 and more can enjoy a free ride on a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) subway train between April 13-15 for the Songkran celebrations, Bangkok Metro Plc (BMCL) public relations director Chartchai Praditpong said.
Mr Chartchai said the company expected the number of people using the subway train during Songkran to be around 70,000-80,000 per day.
In addition to other activities to be organised by the company to mark the traditional Thai New Year, the elderly from 60 years of age can take a free ride during April 13-15 by just showing an ID at the ticketing windows of all 18 subway stations, he said.
Arrangements have been made for people to bathe a Buddha image at Hua Lampong, Silom, Sukhumvit, Phra Ram 9, Thailand Cultural Centre, Lat Phrao, Phahon Yothin, Chatuchak and Bang Sue stations.
