Default Woman who filmed assault at KFC outlet backs victim's statement

Danny Ng, victim of the incident

The assault on a KFC customer at Shah Alam i-City came after the outlet ran out of chicken and not because of any racist remark, said the witness who filmed the incident and posted it online.

The witness, who only wanted to be known as Jess, said victim Danny Ng had angrily told the staff: "If there's no more chicken, you tell us lah!"

She told reporters yesterday that the staff then replied: "You jangan kurang ajar (don't be rude)."

Her declaration supports Ng's earlier statement that the assault had not been provoked by racist comments.

Jess, 42, whose video posted on Facebook has since gone viral, said the victim had asked for an apology and threatened to lodge a police report.

In the video clip, several KFC staff can be seen attempting to hold their colleague back after the heated exchange but he managed to land a punch on Ng during the incident, which occurred on Monday night.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, who was also at the press conference, said: "This is an issue about fried chicken, so please do not speculate until it becomes racist in nature."

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said the police had asked Ng to identify his assailant at an identification parade in the Shah Alam police headquarters yesterday.

Separately, KFC Malaysia ex**pressed deep regret over the assault and said it had suspended the worker involved as well as other members of the team.

Its deputy president Alan Au said an extensive internal investigation had been launched and a police report lodged.
