The company has suspended several workers and lodged a police report after incident in which a customer was alleged to be assaulted.

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

KFC Malaysia has taken steps to keep its customers updated on the company’s investigation into the alleged assault of a patron.

The company has been posting regular updates on its Facebook page as it tries to calm the furore over the incident in its Shah Alam outlet on Monday.

"To all our Facebook friends, we hear you out and are aware of your thoughts and concern in this incident.

"We truly appreciate your thoughts in this matter from the bottom our hearts.

"With much regret, the incident that had taken place is still at the point of scrutiny. Updates will be posted soon. Appreciate your kind patience and understanding," it said in its latest posting.

The incident has caused a heated discussion among Netizens.

The ugly event unfolded after customers, some of whom had been waiting for 45 minutes, were told that the outlet had ran out of chicken.

Customers had been waiting to redeem vouchers that included admission to the I-City ferris wheel, snow house and outdoor rides.

The alleged assault by a kitchen employee on a customer was recorded and posted as a 28-second video on YouTube. The clip has since gone viral.

Victim Danny Ng, who lodged a police report on Wednesday, criticised those who tried to turn the incident into a racial issue.

KFC Malaysia in a previous posting said it had launched an extensive internal investigation and appropriate action would be taken.

Several workers had been suspended and a police report was lodged, it added.

Meanwhile, a second video showing incidents prior to the alleged assault has gone viral YouTube.

In the 43-second clip posted on Thursday, an angry customer was heard shouting: "You must say sor*ry!"

A few moments later, a KFC staff member was seen marching out from the kitchen to the counter area but was immediately stopped by his colleagues.
