My limited experience with spain suggests that spaniards arent as lazy as their northern euro cousins often suggest.

That being said, similar to ACG, the spaniards place a high premium on quality of life and so work tends to be something that alot of people do simply to provide money and utility.....not life passion.
While in Greece it fell on me to deal with the workman who was coming to install the washer/dryer in the apartment that would be where I thought I would be living (my boyfriend's apartment - actually his mommy's, but that is another story), so this was something I wanted to be sure got done. It took a full week to have them hook it up - and the washer/dryer was already in the apartment. They would come, tell me what I needed and I was expected to go get the parts and then they would be back the next day... only to need something else. The only way I was able to get the job completely was to just about buy out the plumbing store (with a handshake promise that I could return anything I didn't use) and to make them a full lunch to keep them from leaving at lunch never to be seen till the next day. And we aren't talking sandwiches - I had to have the food cooking before they came so the smells would entice them to stay and finish. Every night when I would complain when out with locals at the tavernas and ask my boyfriend to help me find a better workmen, they would laugh and just ask why I was complaining - its just the way it is.
