I suppose it's possible that the media is bringing them to our attention more, but I agree with GMonkey- with all the cuts, etc., I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't taking care of the planes like they should, (wasn't there something about that a while back?) and less experienced people in critical jobs.

the hudson flight was due to a flock of birds. Turkish airlines actually had one of the better maintenance and safety records around. wasn't the buffalo, ny pilot error?
