I'm aware of this. My point that this is ridiculous is that these posts are continuously going around and around, it's stupid, no one knows or will know as there is no new regulation in place. A bunch of people asking other people who can not know the answer to a question is a waste of time. Once a regulation is in place then ask, until then I see no point in changing plans, or getting flustered. The embassy doesn't know, immigration doesn't know, so how will DR1 know.
i was mentioning the temp res as people seem strung out over this, if so strung out then just do the temp res app, cheaper, less stressful and clears any probs.
But I've a feeling that's not gunna happen, carry on
DR1's own lawyer posted the new regulations. That is why these threads exist. There are regulations, it is just that the government employees are not aware of them. That should come as no surprise to any of us that live here. And that is the reason for the current confusion.

Residency is not going to "clear any probs" for people who are not able to be residents here since they will not spend at least 6 months here each year. To keep residency you have to spend at least 6 months of the year in the DR.
