Shots fired on North Road

The Canadian Press
February 12, 2009

A shooting at 3 p.m. Thursday in on the Burnaby-Coquitlam border has the neighbourhood rattled.

Residents around the home in the 2400-block of North Road just south of Broadway reported hearing six shots, a pause, and then "bang, bang, bang" before two cars sped off.

"It's crazy. It's every day now," said a young man who lives close by and wouldn't give his name.

He was outside his home, talking to a neighbour when the shots were fired.

"We looked at each other and said, 'That's gunfire, not firecrackers.' And we called the cops."

He said he's worried for his safety now.

"When it's two blocks from your house, it's not fun."

There didn't appear to be any bullet holes in the front of the house but on the side of the home, about 10 orange cones in a tight cluster indicated where the shots might have been fired.

People living in a housing complex across the street said they heard the shots and are now worried about the security of their previously quiet neighbourhood north of Lougheed Mall.

Few knew anything about the people living in the house except that it's a group of young people that often has parties.
Well, this is getting really bad. I cannot imagine how people can just resort to messing around with guns.
