Yes, I am aware he is also a novelist. However, as history as shown, a very good novelist does not necessarily a very good translator make .

That's true. It does seem he gets in enough practice. Tabucchi isn't the only writer he's translated. I think he's done two or three Fleur Jaeggy's. Anyway it's Patrick Creagh (not Parks) for Pereira declares.
