Now that I have finished the book I would like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The second half of the book is well written. I was ready to forgive some of the technical faults because the pacing and the suspense kept me turning the pages. The book has some great restrained descriptions. I was also impressed with the author's ability to manage a large cast of characters.

I will be reading more of his work.
