I have just started on what appears to be this deceptively short novel and Stewart's note is very useful and welcome.

I did a quick search on the London Library on-line catalogue and this suggests that Adair has wide cultural and academic interests. Included are books on the cinema including his translation of Truffaut's letters. That he calls his book on 1990s culture "The post-modernist always rings twice" certainly suggests a playful mind is at work in his writings - whatever form they may take.
