A special drive conducted simultaneously in all suburban areas on Friday led to the arrest of absconding accused, execution of pending non-bailable warrants, action under various provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code against criminals.
In all, police arrested 39 rowdy elements from the suburban limits and remanded them to judicial custody.
The main objective behind the mission was to check the activities of antisocials and prevention and detection of crimes, said a police officer.
Special police teams had prepared a list of historysheeters and subsequently kept a vigil on them and rounded them up in suburban areas, he said.
The storming operation was conducted at Tambaram, Chromepet, Shankar Nagar, Manali Pudhu Nagar and Ennore.
