There's different opinions and beliefs for different people. Religion plays in a huge role in many people, simply because the bible says in the old testiment not to consult mediums. Some also believe that the spirit of the person who passed should be resting and not to be disturbed. For some, they don't believe in the spiritual world at all, and to die is to simply turn into worm dirt and that's it. To elaberate on this, this may be their copeing mechanism for the fear they feel about death. For some, the person that passed may have been so horrible, they don't want that connection any more. Example, my mother-in-law, her husband passed away unexpectanly and he stuck around for the longest time. He was abusive and controllong in his physical life, and continued when he passed away. The energy in the house was so depressing and suffocateing. For other's the person they passed, there may be a fear as well, what if they didn't cros over and go to heaven? Often, the emotional ties that people have, to keep that spirit around may do more harm than good, it may prevent the spirit from crossing over, and it may be a constant reminder for the people still here and holds them back from the greiving process, meaning, it may make it impossible for them to move on with their life. There is so many aspects of this, that for some, it is simply best this way.
Here's another thing I'd like throw out there, simply food for thought, what if the person who crossed ove has already reincarnated back into this life, when you pull them or call them away from their body and they are not prepared for this, it could be a difficult situation. Though the medium can typically tell if they are in the physical or spiritual realm and which realm, there are people who aren't experienced who will do this and may contact something other than the person, or call that person away from their body. This is just food for thought
