The only mention of ghosts though was to scare each other. The whys and wherefores were never addressed. I do think that in the last few years we may be seeing things more open and possibly a change in process. What is really interesting is that a lot of those pushing change are MD's and psychotherapists and they seem to be wanting to combine the spiritual and medical which makes sense to me! I work in mental health and in my office there are several that are interested in life after death etc. If you notice, a lot of the books written are by MD's and PhD's and physicists recently, which I find fascinating. The basic theme seems to be that everything is made of energy and material things are illusions.
