I love the lights and all the decorations. I especially love the fake trees, all decked out. Our bedroom tree is pink!
I don't however, like all the obligations that go along with this time of year. Now, I did it faithfully for 35 years! Christmas was shopping, spending, reviewing the lists, cooking, baking and cleaning up. I could and did handle all of that. I suppose my question here is, why do any of us feel this obligation to conform to what society says we must do?
You MUST buy gifts! You MUST have a tree and decorations.
You MUST eat certain prescribed/approved foods.
Who says I have to follow these rules?
Well, I don't have to. I have stepped out of the madness that is now christmas. I give gifts when I feel in my heart to do so, not because I am TOLD TO.
I have divorced myself from christmas and it feels good.
