Sharing some of your anxieties with the person, from the very beginning, such as "Excuse me, I'm a little nervous, this is the first time I've read for an *official* client before ..." might break the ice a little bit. Humble is endearing. For me, unspoken things are the absolute WORSE. I feel much better if I say my fears out loud, get it all out into the open. The sooner I can release that anxiety out from the pressure valve, the better.
Having a bit of a chat first, so that you can get the sense of the person, might help too. (Not a prying chat but a more generic sort of chat).
And remember .. it's your sensitivity that makes you a perceptive medium. SO embrace it. The worse thing that can happen is that you are wrong. So what. People know that you are just starting off, "up and coming", and that psychic readings are recreational (and not intended to be medicinal/God's word/etc.) So have fun with it.
