I liked playing with the neighborhood kids but my favorite past time was to spend it alone in the little patch of woods where a stream flowed...I just loved looking under rocks and catching those beautiful salamanders (they were only brown, but they were beautiful to me) or visiting the house that had the pidgeon coup...or the house that had a horse.

I seemed to march to a different drummer and my outward appearance at the tender age of 5 changed when I had to wear a metal brace on one leg from the hip to my toes and on the other I had to wear a shoe with a 6 inch base...though the brace did not allow my leg to bend, it did not stop me from learning how to ride a 2 wheel bike....just had to make my "good" leg work a little harder....didn't stop me from climbing trees either (to my mothers horror...lol) ....so now you have a picture of my personality as a child..

Well, when I was in first grade, my teacher was not very nice to me.(I was 6 yrs old at this point)..really hated going to school, so one day I was walking to school alone and decided not to go....the walk included a short path through a woodsy part of a neighbors yard and I just decided I would rather look for salamanders...well about two hours later, I had to go to the bathroom really bad...I couldn't go home and would not "go" in the woods so I decided to see if the neighbors house was open...it wasn't, so I checked the windows....yup one of the windows opened...now I am only 6 and with a stiff metal braced leg...and I climb in the window, go to the bathroom, flush the toilet, and climb out the window...
as I am climbing out the window, I hear the garage door opening soooo being only 6 years old, I hide behind a tree in the neighbors yard but the tree trunk is much smaller than me....The lady neighbor, (who I knew quite well) must have walked into her home whiile the toilet was still flushing. She opened the back door and of course saw me hiding behind the tree...She called to me so I went to her...she must have put 2 and 2 together but without mentioning it, asked me if I wanted to come in and have some cookies.....The End lol
