deerclan, thanks for your interesting writeup on the yoga technique of mirror-gazing. i had never heard of that.

normally i'm pretty good at doing research on the web, but i'm at a loss as to what to look for on this subject that you described. do you have any links or recommendations on keywords to google for this?

thanks a bunch!

peace,
john
john, i wish i could offer you more information on it. however, the info i just shared is info i learned from a fellow grad student in social psychology at the university of georgia in 1975. he and i were "renegades" who were interested in consciousness, which is a legitimate branch of social psychology, but it was not supported by anyone on the faculty at the time. i don't know what became of him, but i ended up so discouraged with it that i eventually ended up dropping out & getting a masters in social work instead. so unfortunately, it's just one of those stray facts in my organic data bank. i initially googled "nystagmus" to find the link that establishes the validity of the term as i used it, but that's all i did. possibly you could search some combination of adaptation, retina, neuron, & vision to come up with something. most likely that information would be primarily in academic journals, which are hard to come by unless you have access to a big database. (i drive 15 miles to the nearest state university when i want that sort of info, for instance.)

if you can't find anything, pm me and let me know, & i'll see if i can come up with some more stuff.
