the best way to have financial security is to have self sufficiency. that does not mean that one has to do all one self.

it is possible to achieve a great degree of self sufficiency even in a town, it all depends whether we look at things with lateral thinking

1) de clutter .- determine what you really “need” rather than what you “want”. much of what we want are aspirational items sign posted to us by others. we try to conform to be loved but no matter how much we move the sign post, we never achieve that. it is a marketing plot.

2) grow your own food. save money, nourish your body and soul. it can be a useful hobby and a skill to trade in the future.

3) alternative energy that is affordable hasn’t come yet but there are many ways to cut out service bills by using less energy, cooking more efficiently and wearing heavier clothes when is cold. insulation is a good move.
try solar cooking, it works even in england.

4) by all means spread the risk if you have more than the bank guarantees.

5) learn how to love yourself, that way we do not need to feel the gap with things.
