labels. ya gotta love a good label. if you can hang a good one on a person/personality, especially one who is sticking his, or her head above the rest, we can know them- right? wrong! we continually "libel by label" to the point where meaningful discourse is becoming obsolete. many have discussed this issue over the past century, but they are all conspiracy nuts, or intellectual kooks, or whatever. hey! what's that? oh, that's a tree. oh, ok. see how simple lfe can be? yet, a biologist, a chemist, and a philosopher could spent a weekend discussing this entity known as tree.

yes, indeed, nothing like a good label to box you in and get you to conform to its paradigms! kind of reminds me of the blind men labeling the elephant. the blind man who feels a leg says the elephant is like a pillar; the one who feels the tail says the elephant is like a rope; the one who feels the trunk says the elephant is like a tree branch; the one who feels the ear says the elephant is like a hand fan; the one who feels the belly says the elephant is like a wall; and the one who feels the tusk says the elephant is like a solid pipe.

i've shied away from labels most of my life, so much so that my pat answer to most things would be "i don't have an opinion about that" or sometimes "i don't have enough information to form an opinion about that"

recently i was re-reading the law of one concept of polarity, and i started wondering if perhaps i should re-evaluate my non-stance on most things. maybe i should actually be taking a stance on some things in order to increase my polarity. so now i'm not so sure anymore, maybe some labels are a good thing, i don't know. but in the meantime i've decided to actively accept a few labels, like "service-to-others" for instance.

and "supermanny" :d
