hi last_apoc, welcome to the forum!
1) yes competition brings out feelings and actions of service to self, anytime we feel above or below anyone this brings thoughts of seperation and encourages our ego, it's like rewarding our dog with a treat for being a "good boy".
2) as long as our free will and the free will of others is nurtured and respected, eventualy we will stop thinking about it and it will happen naturally.
3)everyone's progress towards service to others or "christ consciousness" is unique and on it's own terms. it might involve getting "frustrated/angry/scared/jealous" to some degree and might just accelerate your particular learning process. taking one step back to observe a panoramic view of your shadow self, accepting the offered catalyst and progressing through the growth experience leading you to take two steps forward and on and on untill you've worked through all your past and present karma, that is the game
4)taking drugs to block out offered catalyst is definitely service to self and in all likelihood one of the easiest ways to deny ones own free will,jmho.................................sylvain. .......................................
