i think that the ego is the part of us that keeps us believing that this is reality. we can bypass it to do things such as astral travel (i haven't yet

) but it serves to make this mortal existance a singular experience.

imagine the ego to be like a projected shell or force feild around the soul, it's job is to make the soul see reality through the filter of the ego.

perhaps ghosts are the ego-shells of long gone souls. the empty animated suits that were too stubborn to dissipate once they were finished with!
