when i wake up in the morning, while lying in bed, i immediately go through whatever i can recall of my dreams to have the dream snipits clear in my mind. i share my bed, so i leave the room and immediately get out my journal. as i prepare my morning cup of green tea, i write everything down, then i go into my “sacred space.”
i think it really helps if you can have even a small sacred space where you go to connect with the divine. it reinforces the state. we have a little alcove and i sit there with my tea and journal and “connect” using the soul centering process mentioned earlier. i have always found it best to sit up straight, as the energy runs most freely this way. if you measure the energy flow through the body with a pendulum or dowsing rods, you can easily verify that having straight posture when sitting or standing makes a huge difference.
once i’m settled and connected, i start writing whatever my guidance has to say. usually they start by talking about the dream, but not always. they can surprise me with thoughts for other people or suggestions on diet, thoughts on politics or my spiritual path, or who knows what. i just write until they stop, then ask questions, which i write out in the journal. i have a close friend who prefers to use a computer, rather than a journal. it’s worth experimenting with different approaches and using whatever is most comfortable. i tried the computer, but i prefer being clear of the electronics.
dreams are so full of imagery, i sometimes return to a dream a second time if i am still wondering about some details i missed the first time.
i also have found it profoundly interesting that old characters from years or even decades ago come back again and again. for the last thirty years, i dreamed about a spiritual teacher i had in the 1970’s. in my dreams, i recognized him to represent the “false prophet,” who unwaveringly took away power from those who would allow him to, the lesson being that you have to claim your power and move on. nonetheless, i continued to have these dreams until a couple of weeks ago. in the dreams, i wouldn’t be a total follower, but i would hang around the group. the dreams evolved somewhat and i seemed to be learning from them, but something was holding onto me and i wasn’t getting the whole message.
after all these years, i finally recognized what a blessing he had been in my life. in the 80’s, i finally started to ask myself: if he could access higher guidance, why couldn’t i? and, perceiving missing pieces in his version of reality, why couldn’t i discover more myself? these questions released me from his control, and set me out on a magical journey to find what i perceived to be the missing pieces of the puzzle and to access my own source of wisdom.
synchronously, i was guided to exactly what i was seeking and the journey has been amazing. i don’t know when i would have learned this lesson if he had not been there actively seeking to take my power and wisdom from me. i guess it’s an example of how the “service to self” people play positive roles.
to me, accessing your inner wisdom is the very best thing you can do for yourself. taking the journey through life without your inner guidance is like taking a trip into uncharted territory without a roadmap and your unique spiritual path is definitely uncharted. having a roadmap in hand accelerates your development exponentially and it is the most exciting experience imaginable.
it may also help to realize that you will receive information at the level of vibration you are on. when you wake up in the morning, your rational mind probably hasn’t kicked in yet and taken control of your consciousness, so you are in a relaxed state that is conducive to accessing inner guidance. you will want to stay in this place, not allow yourself to start thinking about everything you have to do. if you connect with a place in yourself where you feel whole and complete, where all is one, you will access information from this place. this is what soul centering does for me. you can also focus on recalling a time when you felt connected with the oneness of all-that-is to recreate that state. with a little practice, you should be able to feel connected quickly.
