what about the soul's free will? what if just doesn't want to exist and doesn't care much of life?
can't a a soul choose not to exist or atleast forget it's idenity (to rediscover it or make a new one) if it were to become miserable in extreme boredom? they'd probably be especially bored if they enjoyed degrading life or being entertained by it. i've met people online that have questioned if eternal life will bore people into wanting to just cease to exist....what can i tell them?
hi, rocky (the red?)

what actually constitutes the nature of free will is one of the most difficult theological/philosophical question to delineate satisfactorly. most people think they know what it is, and they got "it" ... but they really don't on both counts.

this free will question was expounded at length and lurks in the archives, but for some reason i can't locate the post that expounded the definition of free will in both its postive and negative aspects.

one simple attempt in describing free will is merely that of "thought having the potential of thinking within and upon itself." important vital point; the conditional state of free will is found in an internal state of mind rather than a condition dependant on some exterior action either accomplished or frustrated.

in my futile archive search i did find an associated discussion of free will, and i will post it to you privately.

about giving up and throwing in the towel. there are occasions mentioned in the ra literature where a "wanderer" has agreed to let the original soul bow out by taking over and carrying on. one notable case mentioned is that of abraham lincoln.

here is an overly simple illustration... in the "spirit world" the enthusiasm to accomplish a great deal in one's coming incarnation overcomes wisdom, with the end result being that one finds that they have bitten off more than he/she can chew; the trap being that the coming adventure seems so simple and easy to accomplish from the other side... that is, until one gets here and and finds themself confused and going around in frustrating circles. it is an inconvenience, but no big tragedy; from the viewpoint of eternity such a mishape is no big deal, and one merely gathers themself together for another, but hopefully a more carefully informed try.

my very best to you! suggest you take some time to study the the ra material study guide available on site.
