....the ego is discarded at some point and we are left with a more subtle distinction between selves, having to do more with our individual experiential paths to the creator than to our differing views on reality, since, once the veil is lifted, i would imagine that there would be a markéd decrease in disagreement.

can anyone back me up on this maybe?
in the grand scheme of things, we are all one already, so after eons and eons of 'time' we will finally re-unite with the creator, only to realize then, that we never actually left in the first place. it was all just a magnificent adventure in consciousness!

so when you make all these arbitrary divisions in consciousness, ego, personality, subconscious, unconscious, higher self, spirit, soul, etc., it makes it easier to discuss a certain part of it, but ultimately all this division also causes confusion. and everybody's unique idea of 'the way things are' is needed to fully explore all the possibilities of the all-that-is. in other words, if you and i had all the same ideas and beliefs, there would really be no point in both of us being here.

ok, now that i've thoroughly confused both you and myself, let me tell you how i see it. i don't see the ego ever making it out of 3d reality. i think it's a specialized 'tool' that's a combination of bodily consciousness, and left-brain/logical type thinking skills. because frankly i don't see us needing our math skills after we check out.

i do see a division between the personality and the ego. in this scenario the personality (that which makes us uniquely who we are) would stay with us at least until we became a "social memory complex" like ra, and even then we would retain portions of it, to create inspiration and generate new ideas within the complex.
