going without electricity and running water is really not that big of a deal. there's the initial panic that sets in ("oh my god! the world is coming to an end! we're all gonna die!) then you go thru a period of frustration and anger, while you wait. this is the critical period, because it can last anywhere from a day up to a year.
waiting for it is the hardest part. then you go through the final stage of acceptance, and once you accept your situation and try to make the most of it, it will become almost like second nature after a while.
i've been there and i've spent close to half my life without it, so i'm speaking from experience. as soon as you get over your anger and frustration, you can function like normal again. it's important to know that, because as we get closer to the shift many of us may choose that very path as a catalyst.
