i myself have had an experience of moving my bed from one end of the room to the other and felt an uncomfortable sensation when laying down on my bed in the new spot. i adjusted the bed and felt much better afterward. i can totally relate, and it's a curious phenomenon. there was a certain apartment i used to live in where i would switch my bed from time to time between three different positions. in each position, i would focus on doing a specific set of tasks, such as reading certain books here, drawing there, etc. in castaneda's words i believe this would be called a "stalking" method because as soon as i switched the bed around i would revisit to a degree the associated state of mind or mood.
the big story concerning this subject occurred at my childhood home in my country of birth, which i've been visiting once a year or so. one year, i found they had moved the heavy furniture around in my bedroom after painting the walls. and my childhood bed now was located at the opposite side of the room. i had massive difficulties sleeping there!
one night i decided to move the bed as close to the original position as possible (there was a heavy bookcase in the way). when i did so and turned off the lights (i was totally sober, mind you), i started hallucinating thousands of shards of light going everywhere all at once, some of them were stationary as if they represented fixated thought complexes. the hallucinations were so bright, they blocked my vision of the darkened room. quite scary, actually. i left the bed and came back and they returned once again.
how does this all relate to the ra material? i think it would help in matters of preparing a place of working (be it only for meditation) and also in matters of developing the will.
any ideas?
